Violence continues third day in Karachi, 3 killed, 24 injured

  KARACHI: Following the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, violence continued on third day in Karachi and three persons were killed and 24 injured in a firing incident of Lyari.

The firing incidents occurred in various areas of Lyari - Chakiwara, Baghdadi, Kalri, Kalakot, Khadda Market and Lea Market - in which three persons including 26-year-old Ashraf, were killed and 16 injured. They were taken to Civil Hospital.

According to eye witness, six persons were wounded in firing by the rangers in the area. But the rangers spokesman has denied the news.

Throughout the day, unknown persons fired in the streets of Lyari and other areas.

Meanwhile, police and rangers tried to disburse the people through shelling and firing in the air.

As per hospital sources, eight persons were injured in firing in the areas of Orangi Town, Sohrab Goth and North Nazimabad.

Ten shops of Lunda Bazar near Light House were burnt and a factory near Saba Cinema in New Karachi was also set on fire.

In Korangi Industrial Area, three trawlers and two factories were set on fire after looting them during the previous night.

Shops were looted and burnt in a kabari market in Sheshah but the fire brigade overcame the fire with the help of rangers.
